Saturdays and Sundays from 2-4pm IMPORTANT: Ladies are highly encouraged to come early and take the men and women's group classes on to practice and apply what you're learning. Saturdays and Sundays:
Ladies who arrive Saturdays at 1pm will get to take the advanced men and women's group class for free from 1pm till 2pm! Group classes are perfect for practicing your new styling techniques!
Eight Weeks of Female Styling for the Novice Each week will have detailed written material for the student to take home and practice. This will be a progressive course, starting every three months, depending on my travel schedule. On week eight, we will invite the guys to our class to practice what we've learned the past eight weeks! IMPORTANT: If you must skip a class, you may either make it up with a private lesson, or wait until the next session to make it up. (10 weeks from that date) Styling with your partner: When we "practice with a partner" during the first seven weeks, on occasion we will briefly work with each other (ladies only), to understand what it's like to be a leader (empathy here), and understand what men go through while trying to lead us. This method teaches us how to be light on our feet, and be rid of the heaviness and sluggishness most men complain about. .;) Graduates will receive: Styling Graduates will receive a free Timing CD, free Posture Brace, and 50% off all Spins, and Ladies Styling Videos! Dress Code: Casual. Ladies, due to body and limb stretching, floorwork, and certain leg movements, please dress in dark stretchable slacks, sweats, or dark tights. Wear dance shoes, or dance sneakers. No dresses or shorts please.
Week One Summary - Overview, what to wear out, the do's and don't's, and psychology of Salsa, tricks, tips, and traps, working the room, working your SELF, posture tips, professional-looking foot and leg positions, and attitude. Dealing with "off-beaters". Small lecture from "Al, Liquid Silver" .., on what he looks for when he leads. Millennium Style - defined. #5 floor connection, Small to negligible “One”, Slot dancing, self-propelled spins. Week Two Summary - High Speed Spins and Turns. Mastering spins. Spot turns, pencil turns, chenet turns, and pivots. Touch and Go hand techniques, acute spotting, and split second hand awareness techniques. Mastering your partnering spins. Week Three Summary - Spins review and practice. Here we will discuss the new Millennium Style of Lead and Follow - SO YOU CAN EASILY FOLLOW GUYS LIKE MY HUSBAND. (I know, he can be intimidating- even to ME!). Extended from last week - stylish, high speed multiple pivots, lifting the leg, and single leg spins. Week Four Summary - Spins review and practice. Head tosses, footwork, Freedom Concept moves, with and without a partner. Fancy footwork, fancy arm work, playing with the music, letting loose, feeling the rhythm, confidence-building time. Sneaking in Copa and Cross Body Lead styling - without ever interrupting his lead. Week Five Summary - Spins review and practice. Sensual and exciting Freedom Concept moves. Kicks - when and when NOT to kick, arm sweeps, with and without a partner. Head bangers, shoulder shimmies, and shoulder work. "Still as a mouse" moves without interrupting his lead, but look AWESOME in the process! Week Six Summary - Spins review and practice. T-stance and Hijacking. We will practice these concepts with and without a partner. Hijacking, and "stealing the moment" moves, both in a hijack and in T-stance positions. Week Seven Summary - Spins review and practice. Thorough preparation and review for partnering with the guys next week. Week Eight Summary - REALITY TIME!!! Guys are invited to join us this week and practice what we've learned with REAL MEN!
